Our Story
Cardel Rec South is a community-based recreational center located in Shawnessy. The idea for the center was first proposed by a group of concerned community members in the mid-1990s. They believed that a center like this would be a valuable resource for the community, providing a place for people to participate in sports, fitness, and other recreational activities. The process of turning this vision into a reality was not easy, but the community was determined and worked hard to make it happen. Finally, in January 2001, the first phase of the center opened to the public. This phase included two ice rinks, a gym, and a few meeting rooms. The center has likely undergone additional development and expansion since its initial opening, but the core mission of providing a place for community members to come together and participate in recreational activities remains the same.

One of my favourite laid out facilities. Lots of entrances and room for gaggles of people to get around. Love that it's connected to the Ymca and library as well.
Great sports facilities, 3 arenas "& lots of meeting rooms. Calgary public library, YMCA facility and a Sr High school
Nice affordable basketball court. My buddies and I rent this place a couple of hours a week. The staff are punctual in opening and closing the gym. Pretty good!
